Entrusting my dissertation to Pooja for editing felt akin to placing a seedling in the hands of a skilled and patient gardener. She has an extraordinary gift for identifying the true kernel of insight within a dense or overgrown draft and shaping it into prose that breathes: clear, purposeful, and accessible well beyond the confines of the academy. She gently prunes away the thorns of jargon and the excess of academic ornament without compromising intellectual rigor, helping me articulate my research in a way that could reach readers beyond my field. Her feedback is exacting yet generous, grounded in deep empathy for both the writer and the wider world our words inhabit. She partners with you in the difficult, generative work of transforming ideas into writing that feels alive, honest, and vital.

In working with Pooja, you will finds a close and careful reader who not only cares about what you put on paper, but the process involved in that practice. I love conversations with her about my writing because she’s genuinely interested in my ideas and has so many great suggestions about next steps, from addressing structural concerns to more practically getting things done within a time constraint. Prepare to feel re-energized in your writing practice after an hour with her!
— Postdoctoral Fellow, Latino Studies
I’ve worked with Pooja for over two years on a variety of projects, from journal articles to book reviews. She is often there from early drafts, and she helps me talk through my own thought process and find my argument. A lot of our sessions are the two of us taking turns in saying what we understood from each other, so as to identify where the misunderstandings or ambiguities lie. In the process, her grasp of foundational and recent discourses in art history and media studies (where our interests overlap) surfaced sources and angles that I’d missed. But perhaps what I most appreciate about her is the diligence in making academic writing accessible and relevant.
